The quiet spot in Orotava Valley |
Rincón means quiet spot. Fortunately this fact can be taken literally. In this area, at the coast of Orotava Valley, time seems to lose its importance. For decades, there has existed a building stoppage. El Rincón is rather known for its wide banana plantations and exotic plants. To spend holidays in this area means enjoying silence, breathing fresh maritime air, discovering the different hiking trails or just to relaxing at the beach. The close-by Playa Bollullo is one of the most beautiful beaches of the entire island. If you want to mingle with the crowd in Puerto de la cruz or La Orotava you just need a 10 minutes ride by car. You can even take a walk along the coast that takes you about half an hour to reach Puerto's district La Paz. In Puerto de la Cruz there are many shopping possibilities or you can enjoy the big variety of cafés, restaurants and plazas.

La Orotava |
The city centre of La Orotava, which El Rincón belongs to, is an official European Heritage Sight. Discover the hand-made wooden balconies, the idyllic patios, the shady plazas and churches. The entire town is more like an open-air museum and from many different points you can enjoy breathtaking views to Mount Teide and the coast.

Puerto de la Cruz |
One special feature of Puerto de la Cruz is its unique location in the Orotava Valley at the Atlantic coast. Besides the romantic town center with its idyllic central square “plaza”, the tiny fishing harbour and the picturesque promenade, there is the Lago Martiánez (artificial swimming bath with Atlantic water designed by Cesar Manrique from Lanzarote). |

Moreover, in Puerto de la Cruz, you should not miss to visit the Loro Park and see the biggest parrot collection in the world. The Botanic Garden which was found in 1788 is worth a visit, too. |
