Hiking in El Rincón

El Rincón and surroundings is a very popular hiking area both for locals and for tourists.

E.g. there is a nice hiking trail along the coast to Puerto de la Cruz in the West and to a nice Panorama Café (Café Paraiso) in the East. In addition there are many possiblities for wonderful walks: excursions along the coast, through forests, over mountains and volcanic landscapes by bus, by car, by ship or even submarines. You can climb Mount Teide or go up by ropeway. Orotava Valley with its unique beauty is a perfect starting point for hikers.

Walking tour to Puerto de la Cruz

To discover El Rincón's amenities we could recommend a nice walk along the coast to Puerto de la Cruz. For this relaxed walk with slight altitude differences you would need aprox. 1,5 hours for a round trip.

Leaving your Finca you would have to follow a small rural road in direction of Bollullo Bay. Once reached the bay you do not descend the stairway to the beach but keep left until you reach a barranco, a small canyon. From here you have an amazing view over the steep coast, the atlantic and Puerto de la Cruz. Next you descend the stairs and the little path to cross the canyon and to ascend another stairway at the other side. A concrete lane directs you through different banana plantations and a rural area. After transition of a tunel you keep straight ahead. After a short while you reach Puerto de la Cruz.

If you like to ramble through Puerto or enjoy a coffey, you can follow the street Leopoldo Cologán Zululeta and turn left at Hotel Semiramis into an alleyway with stairs with a bunch of Hotels and Cafés. This panorama way offers another nice view over the sea before meeting in a promenade that leads you directly to the urban centre.

The return would be along the same way.

To Los Patos und Ancón

Having reached Bollullo Beach you head eastward in direction of Playa del Pozo, del Pato and del Ancón along the coast this time. You keep right following a small hiking trail. After 5 minutes you can already see Playa del Pozo with its' beautiful bay. Succeeding the trail you reach the former runnel bed of Barranco del Pino. Here you meet with rank vegetation, but though well-completed footpaths. Finally you pass a way beneath a wooden bar and a conduit pipe and follow a few stairs reaching a small street where you turn left. Following yellow arrows you reach the way down to Playa del Ancón after aprox. 10 min.
